The day before the scheduled surgery, you can perform normal daily activities. Generally, there is no need for a special diet and you do not have to skip meals. All patients are admitted on the day of their surgery at the agreed time. You must not eat 6 hours before the surgery and drink 2 hours before the surgery, if it is performed under local anesthesia. The last meal should be light, more in liquid form and you must avoid large quantities of high-fiber foods, baked goods and meat.
For operations to be performed under local anesthesia, admission is 2-3 hours before the operation. You must bring the recent basic laboratory blood tests (no older than 3-5 days), the recent examination report by an internal medicine specialist and the permission for surgery under local anesthesia, as well as your regular chronic therapy medications, if any.
Upon admission, your laboratory blood analysis is checked and a control examination performed, blood pressure, pulse and body temperature are measured, the operative site is prepared and the further procedure is explained once again. This is followed by an examination by the attending anesthesiologist, and 30-45 minutes before the operation, premedication is given intravenously in the form of an infusion of analgesics and sedatives that brings you into a relaxed, calm and optimal state for the operation under local anesthesia.
