The operations were performed by the eminent experts in this field, Dr. Bojan Radovanović from the Association of Herniologists of Serbia and prof. Dr. Samir Delibegović from the Association of Endoscopic Surgeons of BiH with the assistance of surgeons from Bijeljina Hospital.
Previously, a lecture was held on the topic of Laparoscopic surgery of the inguinal hernia TEP method, which was organized by the Association of Endoscopic Surgeons of BiH in cooperation with the PHI Hospital "Sveti Vračevi" from Bijeljina.
"I would like to express my great gratitude to the educators Dr. Radovanović and Prof. Dr. Delibegović, who in cooperation with Dr. Milan Todorović, leader of the laparoscopic surgery team of Bijeljina Hospital and head of the surgical department Dr. Zdravko Matković will do everything to, together with young surgeons, improve this health institution’s surgical work in the future, " said the Sveti Vračevi hospital director prof. Dr. Zlatko Maksimovic. Maksimović also thanked Dr. Milan Latinović from the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of the RS for the support to raise the standards in the Bijeljina hospital to a higher level.
One of the top experts in the field of laparoscopic abdominal surgery, Dr. Bojan Radovanovic, said that in the past 20 years, since the existence of the Association of Herniologists of Serbia, much has been invested in educating surgeons not only in Serbia but also in Montenegro, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. This is just a higher degree of good cooperation which will be continued.
Prof. Samir Delibegović, PhD, noted that the Association of Endoscopic Surgeons of BiH was founded in 2019, and the initiators, alongside him, were Professor Siniša Maksimović and colleague Branko Perić.
"The formation of the Association was a reflection of the aspirations of the initiators to improve endoscopic surgery in BiH, because we were the only country in Europe that did not have this association. We had a successful congress two years ago in Sarajevo and started working. The corona virus pandemic has stopped us. Now, after the workshop in Travnik, we have the same workshops in Bijeljina, Delibegović said. He emphasized that the Association of Endoscopic Surgeons in BiH strives to improve endoscopic surgery in BiH with the help of friends in the area, and today doctor Bojan Radovanović from Serbia was with them.
"We want to raise endoscopic surgery to a higher level in BiH, and we came to Bijeljina to teach our colleagues at the Sveti Vračevi Hospital the TEP method of laparoscopic hernia surgery," added Professor Delibegović.
The representative of the RS Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Milan Latinović, said that today a team of experts was attending a quality workshop at the Sveti Vračevi Hospital in Bijeljina, where new medical procedures and techniques were being adopted when it came to laparoscopic surgery as a modern branch of surgery. He emphasized the importance of this event for the health system of Republika Srpska, which had been facing a coronary virus pandemic for the past year. Today's education is a significant contribution in the effort to provide citizens with other services that they need, according to the highest standards ", said Latinović.
